Eating more fish has no effect on intestinal health

Eating more fish seems to have no effect on the health of the large intestine. This is the result of a research by Gerda Pot with which she promoted at the University of Wageningen.

The researcher also found no difference between eating salmon or cod fish. Pot says that she didn’t any addition clues that eating fish can contribute to lowering the risk of intestinal cancer.

A 140 test subjects were followed for the research, who ate two extra portions of salmon or cod fish per week during a period of six months. Then they were examined to see if there were any changes in the intestines. These results were compared with the intestines of 70 people who had not eaten any extra fish.

It has been shown that eating fish lowers the risk of cardiovascular disease, so it is still important to eat fish at least two times a week.
