People who sleep less hours often have more excess wait than people who sleep longer. This is the result of a recently done American study.
Even though people who don’t sleep a lot are very active during the day, they do gain weight faster. Hormones play a role in this according to the researchers. In people who sleep less, the amount of the hormone leptin decreases.
Leptin is the hormone that regulates the feeling of being full after eating. Because this feeling decreases, people who sleep less will eat more.
In the research the volunteers were asked to wear a special bracelet that measured their movements, body temperature and other data. The volunteers who slept longer were shown to be less active than those who slept shorter.
According to the researchers people who sleep less are more stressed and forget more and more things. That’s why they have to be more active during the day to get everything done. More stress makes people eat more making them gain weight.
