Fitness can also make you fat

Many people use the treadmill, crosstrainer or stationary bike at the gym in the hope to lose some weight. Research has now shown that this kind of exercise can also make you more fat.

People assume that if you sweat a lot, then you are also burning a lot of calories. And that is why they use the treadmill or the crosstrainer fanatically. Unfortunately this is not true, because the amount of calories that you burn with these exercises is not so much.

Also these kind of exercise can give you a feeling of hunger quicker, says David Archer, sport expert at the University of Sunderland. And then you get the inclination to eat more.

According to Archer it is much better to do exercise using weights. He thinks that many people, especially women, don’t train very often with weights, because they are afraid to get a bodybuilder physique.

Nonetheless exercising regularly with weights is the best way to lose weight. Working out with weights develops your muscles and they then make it so that you burn more calories in a day.
