Exercising your muscles three times a week with weights can have the following benefits:
- Reduce the risk of getting diabetes According to a research done at Tufts University, strength training can reduce your chance of developing diabetes in only four months. Strength training or working out with weights lowers blood sugar levels and increases insulin sensitivity.
- Decrease depression Researchers at Harvard University studied the effects of strength training and cardio training for a period of 10 weeks. The strength trainers noticed a big improvement in their mood than the cardio trainers.
- Elevate testosterone levels Finish researchers found that with strength training, testosterone levels increased up to 48 percent. This ’sex hormone’ plays a crucial role for your sex drive and in living longer.
- Protect your brain against bleedings Researchers at the University of Michigan found that lifting weights can lower your blood pressure and reduce your risk for a brain hemorrhage by 40 percent.
