Belly fat causes more belly fat

Canadian scientists discovered in a research with skinny and fat mice that fat cells in the belly region produce a certain hormone. Of this hormone, called neuropeptide Y (NPY), it was assumed that it was only produced in the brain. The hormone stimulates the appetite and regulates the metabolism. The more belly fat the mice had, the more their fat cells produced the hormone NPY. Up to six times. This way the fat cells caused for more fat cells and this way belly fats causes more belly fat.
