Fried potatoes contain carcinogenic glycidamide

German scientists have shown that french fries and potato chips contain the carcinogenic substance glycidamide. Scientists at the Technical University of Münich discovered this in the study they conducted.

Glycidamide is created when potato products are heated. This substance is much more dangerous for your health than acrylamide, another dangerous substance that was discovered in french fries six years ago.

In mammals even a small dose of glycidamide can lead to cell mutations in the body, say the scientists.

The researchers do not say if we should stop immediately with the consumption of french fries and potato chips.
