Lower your cholesterol with macadamia nuts

Macadamia nuts are not only tasty, they also have health benefits. This is reported by the American Journal of Nutrition. A daily portion of 40 grams of macadamia nuts improved the lipid levels in the blood of people who suffered from high cholesterol within 5 weeks. The levels of total and ldl-cholesterol were lowered after 5 weeks by more than could be expected from only the healthy fats that are contained within these nuts. Possibly there are other bioactive compounds in macadamia nuts that help to lower the cholesterol levels.
