Smoking damages health non-smoking partner

Non-smoking partners of men or women who do smoke have a 42 percent bigger chance to get a stroke than people whose partner do not smoke. For ex-smokers who live with a smoker that chance is 72 percent higher.

These are the results of a study that was published recently in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine. The article is based on a research done with 16.225 Americans who were 50 years or older. The researchers followed the participants for at least 9 years on average.

The research also showed that it doesn’t matter for the non-smoking partner for the risk of a stroke, if the partner has never smoked or stopped smoking. Quit Smoking Now
