Running makes you happyFanatic runners have been claiming it for years, but now it has finally been proven: running makes you feel high. Henning Boecker of the University of Bonn, Germany, looked at the brains of 10 runners with a PET-scan. He did this just before they started running and after they had finished their 2 hour training. The researchers discovered that the brains of the runners had high levels of endorphins in them. Furthermore the endorphins were located in the places of the brain that regulate emotions. So did the runners feel a lot happier? Of course they did. And the higher the levels of endorphins in the brain, the happier they said they felt.
