Blueberries against colon cancer

A new study into antioxidants shows that a specific antioxidant in blueberries called pterostilbene works preventive against colon cancer. Researchers at the American Rutgers University discovered that rats who have been given a substance that is cancerous that the rats who were given pterostilbene afterwards developed less cancer than those who didn’t. Pterostilbene probably also has a beneficial effect against high cholesterol levels, which is a probable risk factor for colon cancer. It is not yet clear if pterostilbene has the same effect in humans.
