Lots of green in the environment, like trees, bushes, plants and flowers, make that people feel more healthy. This doesn’t seem to be because they exercise more, say researchers at the Dutch Institute for Research of Health Care (Nivel). People who live in green surroundings don’t acquire more exercise than those who do not live in a green landscape.
People who live in green surroundings do garden more often, but don’t walk, bike or exercise more. Green surroundings are truly healthy though, according to the Vitamin G research program of the Nivel. But this isn’t due to exercise.
It is possible that exercising in a green environment is more effective. This can be because the air is cleaner or because just seeing the green surroundings has a positive effect on health.
