Slim down by just thinking about food? It is possible. This is shown by a study done by British scientists. They discovered that by thinking about your last meal you can suppress your feeling of being hungry. This way you crave less snacks and food.
It is also better to concentrate while eating. That causes you to eat less the next day. Professor Higgs and her colleagues at the University of Birmingham investigated the influence of memory on food and unhealthy eating habits.
In one of the tests 47 women were shown a movie while eating. Another group had to concentrate on eating itself. The next day the first group of women ate a lot more snacks than the other group.
The results of this investigation gives scientists insights into the development of medicines that can take away the feeling of being hungry. A part of your brain is responsible for the memory of food. By heightening the activity in that part of the brain, you can suppress the feeling of being hungry.
The researchers think that people who watch their diet, can teach themselves to eat less. Behavioral therapy and hypnosis can help with weight loss in this manner.
