Spanish research has shown that fenols, compounds found in olive oil, are not damaged in an acidic environment. In laboratory conditions these compounds kill the dangerous E. Coli bacteria, which among other things causes stomach problems, like ulcers. The researchers are trying to determine now if olive oil actually does combat stomach problems.
